Types of CAD Files
K-TEK has the capability to translate most commonly used CAD files formats, but some types of files are easier to process given the current software and hardware. The recommended file types listed below improves the efficiency of file transfer and translation.
Autocad 2000

Supplementary Information
The single most important part of a file transfer is the supplementary information included with the CAD files. A CAD file by itself without documentation will produce processing delays. By following the guidelines listed below, file processing can be made noticeably faster.
Each CAD file should be named with the appropriate part number and revision. (ie. 11556-cr.igs.)
A quick identification of the file as an IGES file of part # 11556 at revision level c.
Do not send multiple files with the same name, preventing files from overwriting themselves.
Do not send files with non-descriptive file names such as: "ktek.igs" or "newchange.zip".
Separate Text File (please include with all file transfers)
The following information should be included in a separate text file sent with all part files. (E-Mail is the best way to send the text file)
A list of each part number and revision being sent
The name of the K-TEK salesperson or program manager associated with the part
A brief description of what is to be done with the part files
Additional information is welcome and will be given to the appropriate people.
Always compress the IGES files with UNIX compress (if the customer has UNIX systems) or Winzip to reduce file transfer time.
